Mobile Apps vs. Mobile Websites
We have these moments in life in which we don’t realize at what point we stopped being someone to become another person. For instance, we can’t mark in a calendar the day we became adults leaving behind our teen life. It’s something that happens without alerting us about it. The same has occurred with web sites and web apps.
In today’s EPost we want to discuss about web sites versus web apps because despite people have used web sites for years, day after day they’re choosing web apps unconsciously because they satisfy our needs in a more complete or specific way.
In general terms, or simple words, the difference between web sites and web apps is that web sites give access to advanced browser capabilities and web apps’ purpose is to achieve a specific task, so you always do something with them. Thus, can we say that is it consumption versus creation?

Developers go deeper, because, of course, they know about the subject, and they difference them for their technical distinctions. For example: self-contained, rich/interactive user interface, action-oriented rather than information oriented, and others.
Now, the question is: In today’s web world, should people focus on creating web sites or web apps? Many creators agree that the fertile ground is in mobile web world. This means that, if you have an idea and you think people will use it, or it will be useful to solve some daily problems, you can start developing it and that’s it. Considering this, it seems more attractive to create apps than websites.
As a matter of fact, many developers have increased the number of web apps compared to the ones who have developed web sites in the last years. At the same time, we can’t forget that the growing number of mobile devices have led these preferences.
It’s very simple to understand the reasons. If you have a smartphone you have access to thousands of apps that help make your life easier or more organized. There are so many options that sometimes we can get confused or overwhelmed, though, because we don’t know which one is better.
But if you think slowly, nobody taught us how to use smartphones or choose the right apps. We learned by ourselves, or maybe with the advice of a friend who is the geek of the team, but the rest counts as our own achievement. Saying this, it only depends on you judging if web sites are better than web apps, or maybe, they’re different things than cannot be compared.
The good news about all this is that there’s a huge competence in the web world that users, like you and me, who only worry about the content of what we’re using, get very good apps for free, or at least, we can try a lite version and then decide if we buy or not.
Question: Do you think web sites could disappear in the near future? Think about it!!!
